Flowerpot

New Spaces

“‘Arryyyyy”, Fleur whined as she walked along, pawing at her boyfriend's hands as they stubbornly remained in place, covering her eyes. “Let me seeeeeee!”

“Just a bit further Fleur”, He replied, and she heard the mischief in his tone. “Trust me.”

She pouted, huffing as she crossed her arms, yet she relented, letting him lead her up a series of stairs. Harry abruptly stopped, and she stumbled as one of his hands moved to cover both her eyes, as the other slipped away, reaching into his pocket for his wand.

A swish and a flick, and Fleur heard a door click open.

“Uh… ‘Arry?”, she asked uncertainly as he turned her to the right, and led her a few steps forward.

He took away his hands as he spoke, “Well… here we are! Surprise!”

She blinked rapidly, her eyes adjusting to the light as she took in…. A living room. A fairly bare one at that. She stepped forward hesitantly, glancing around. Across from her, a large windows opened over the road below, bathing the room in the yellow light of the setting sun. Across the road, a magnificent, lush park stretched out, filling their view in a sea of green, beyond which the dreary London skyline loomed. To the left, two open doors led to what appeared to be an empty room and a washroom. To her right, the open kitchen split off, an island dividing it off from the living room proper. Beside it, another open door, this one leading to a second empty room.

Shocked to silence, her voice broke as she asked. “‘Arry… what is this? Why are we here?”

He chuckled nervously, ducking his head.”Well… You said you wanted to move in and I thought we could get a space of our own. You know… just for us?”

She whirled to face him, blue eyes wide with surprise, “So you bought us a flat?”

“Well”, he murmured, scratching the backing of his head, suddenly unsure. “I’m just renting it. Do.. do you not like it? I’m so sorry, I should have asked but I wanted to surprise you and it just seemed like the perfect place and its close to diagon as well and there was a wonderful park and -” He stopped as a pair of pale, soft arms wrapped around his tense figure, as Fleur smiled at him softly. “‘Arry”, She whispered, “It's perfect.”

He slumped, sighing with relief. His arms matched hers, wrapping around his girlfriend's body, pulling her closer as they stood there, the light of the sunset washing over their forms, bathing them in a medley of warm hues, in the middle of the bare flat, a flat that would soon be filled with joy, laughter, love and memories.

So many memories.
