Flowerpot

Christmas Love

Harry Potter is an orphan with a kind and courageous heart. Though his family mistreats him, he is able to see and appreciate the beauty found in this world. Hagrid, the fierce-looking but kindhearted giant gave him two of the most important things in his life, Hedwig, his steadfast companion, and a handmade flute, whose tones often float around the Hogwarts castle.

One day, though the adults had warned him off, Harry is wandering outside the castle, playing the flute, and watching the first snow of the year fall. And to his amazement, there is a maiden, dancing and singing among the gently falling snowflakes, glittering with reflected light, beautiful as a winter dawn, and dressed in enough finery to put the royal family to shame.

Entranced by the dance and the song, Harry slowly approaches the maiden, his flute’s song answering her own.

After a time of singing accompanied by the new flautist, the blushing maiden stops, and introduces herself as Fleur.

Harry learns that now that winter has come, Fleur will be there every day. And so, despite repeated warnings from the adults, Harry ventures outside every day, to play the flute for the dancer, sing for her, dance with her. Fall for her. They grow closer, yet there is sorrow in Fleur’s eyes. For their romance is doomed to an end, when the winter goes away. [9:49 PM] One day, Harry is approached by a tall and mighty man, who introduces himself as Grandfather Frost, Fleur’s father. Wielding his pikestaff of glittering ice, he cuts an intimidating figure, despite the gentle smile behind his bushy snow-white beard. He wants to see the young man his daughter was so besotted with.

He sees Harry as a good man, and so gives him a warning. “Forget my daughter if you wish to live. A single kiss from the daughter of Frost would freeze your insides and kill you. This would break her heart. And even if you find a way to survive, the warmth of your love would cause my daughter to melt. You are a good mortal man, and will live a good, long life. Your heart is big, and brimming with love. Please, do not throw it away, and please, do not hurt my daughter.”

And so begins Harry’s quest to find a way to withstand the kiss of the Daughter of Frost, and to make sure that they would be able to stay together.
