Heart Big Enough

Harry and Fleur work for the ICW, Harry as one of their enforcers watching over the Statute of Secrecy, Fleur (TBD).

After the troubles with Grindelwald and Voldemort, the ICW has instituted a program of regularly sending its enforcers to member countries on rotation, to assist their aurors (or equivalents) and foster international cooperation.

And so Harry gets sent to the Magical Czech Republic, where he gets assigned a partner from their DMLE, one of the Chodec Division. They, instead of investigating wizarding crimes, usually work in the countryside, making sure that the various magical beings in that area do not reveal the magical world to the muggles, and also investigating cases of muggles going missing.

Harry’s partner and his dog companion takes Harry on a long patrol around the highlands and mountains of the border regions, meeting both the local wizards and witches, but also the Hejkals, the Jezinky, the Permoníks, Vodníks, the Žínky, and many others.

While dealing with the usual petty issues, the pair gets embroiled in bigger troubles, involving local terrorists, and Jezinky encouraged to gorge themselves on human flesh. In the final clash, Harry’s partner is mortally wounded, and after the fight both the dog who survived his partner, and Harry who recovers from his wounds, form a bond of friendship. The Czech DMLE doesn’t have the heart to separate the dog and Harry, since this magical breed forms very close attachments.

And so Fleur sees Harry return home with new scars, and a canine companion reeking of magic. While the dog and the Veela eye each other warily, Harry gives his wife the same assurance he was given by the Czech DMLE.

“Their hearts are always big enough for another friend. But you have to do it cautiously and properly.”

In this way begins Fleur’s new adventure, to gain the trust and affection of Harry’s new inseparable companion.
