Inspector Vernon Dursley was expecting a lot of things on Halloween, his orphaned Nephew was not one of them.
He got along well enough with James, the fact that they were both lawmen was a bonding element for them, but he knew well enough that he and his wife weren't close enough to the Potters to get custody of Harry, not unless a lot of other people died too. But Vernon was not a man to let that stop him, he would raise Harry as someone who could follow in his father's footsteps." In another life Harry would have been raised in a less than pleasant fashion. This time however, he was raised in a loving home, with dreams of becoming a police officer like his Uncle. When his family told him about his heritage, that dream changed to becoming an Auror. Another pivotal moment in his life would be shortly after he turned thirteen, and met Susan Bones on his way to the first year of Hogwarts. The two quickly became close and would eventually begin dating by the summer of their third year. The duo of future Aurors would also befriend one of their French guests in their fourth year, another relative of an Auror, a Veela named Fleur Delacour. Things however, get a bit complicated when Harry's gamble to seize an early status as a legal adult (and thus get his Godfather a trial), after he is forced into the Triwizard Tournament also activates an old marriage contract between the Potter and Delacour families. Will Harry be able to navigate his love for Susan, his obligation to the marriage contract, his budding feelings for Fleur, and the ever growing shadow of Voldemort?
(My own contribution to battle the criminal lack of Harry/Fleur/Susan, also bumping the Hogwarts age up a couple of years in order to make the romance less awkward.)
