So this idea was originally intended for a Harry/Tonks story, but with just a few changes... During the Hogwarts raid, Harry is killed in a crossfire. He then wakes up with a faint memory of King's Cross and Dumbledore, but no details. He is in a room in the Leaky Cauldron, with a letter congratulating a Henry Evans to being accepted to Hogwarts for his seventh year. He is to present himself at Hogwarts on the 28th of August 1994, and he will be tested due to a lack of OWLs on record. Panicking, Harry runs to the bathroom, where he sees that he now looks different. No scar, no glasses, slightly rounder face, brownish hair. Harry still recognises himself at a bunch of minor details, but no one would look at him and be like "that's Harry Potter".The interesting bit about diverging at the end of 6th year is incomplete information. Dumbledore failed big time with Malfoy, so Harry wouldn't trust him at all. Snape is a traitor. Harry knows about Horcruxes, but not where to find most of them. So Harry sets himself a few objectives, like preventing Voldemort's resurrection, catching Pettigrew and such, but he has no one whom he can trust since Ron and Hermione are too young and the Order is a bunch of strangers. Maybe stop his younger self from getting into the tournament, but dealing with Crouch Jr would be difficult and potentially beyond his abilities. Then Fleur shows up for the tournament, you get your average romance and then you can eventually have "Henry" reveal the truth, with him and Fleur teaming up with limited future knowledge
