How about this for a historical fic: Sir Henry "Harry" DePottier, second son of Herbert De Pottier and brother to Edward, Baron of Peak, Joins King Richard on the 3rd crusade as part of the magical component of his retinue. Sir Harry meets many people from across the Angevin realms, including the aging Roland De la Cour and his lovely daughter Fleur, who is tending to her father's uncertain health. Harry is therefore surprised when in the first fight the De la Cour knight is far more agile than he ever saw Roland being.
It takes a while, and the de la cour knight being injured, for Harry to realize that the knight is Fleur herself
