Reason for Writing

That there's a place for you in that story. Either in Harry himself, as the partner of someone who's been abused, mother figure, father figure, friend, etc. If you're Harry, that you have an immense amount of willpower to push forward, and that you'll be rewarded for it, even if not in the most ideal way. If you're one of the others, then you might understand a little better of why someone acts the way they do, or why they might not tell you.

Desire for Readers

Trust me, the author. I know that fanfiction breeds this sort of....error catching culture. People want to be helpful and/or expect the author to be amateurish. Which is perfectly reasonable. But not every inconsistency is a mistake nor every oddity unplanned. Trust the author a bit and you'll have a much better time.
